My sincere apologies for anything that may not reach this page this cycle. However, as always you will find more information in this publication and also check out our MCC Facebook page to ensure you receive photos and news of all the great work of our students, teachers and MCC team.

2026 Student Leadership Processes

A  very warm congratulations to all Year 11 students who have applied for a range of leadership positions, including those of  College captains for the next 4 terms of their schooling. We have seen outstanding applications, service and speeches from all of our students. All student leaders and their families should be very proud of their achievements so far. Thank you also to all of their teachers and particularly Yr 11 Pastoral Leader Ms Reynolds and Assistant Principal Mrs Lora Segrave for leadership, support for students, organisation and encouragement.

The announcement regarding College Captains and Vice Captains will be made in the final College Assembly and Presentations in Week 10. To all the outstanding applicants for these positions, well done!  All applicants will receive a position as a formal 2026 Student leader, prefect or house captain. Other student leader announcements will be confirmed early in Term 4 after final processes are complete. Students who have been selected as College Captains for 2026, (listed here in no particular order) are: William Lancaster, Anna Ooi, Zara Guglielmino and Lua’lufi (Ufi) Filipo.

We also wish all Year 11 students luck over the next two weeks as they undertake their Preliminary Exams in Weeks 9 and 10. Special thanks to Mr Summerville, Mr Seers and Mr Herb for their organisation behind the scenes.

CEDWW Teacher Scholarship

Congratulations to Isabella Cavallaro who is the recipient of a CEDWW Teacher

Scholarship over the next 4 years. Isabella will be presented with her award at the Year 12 Final Awards Ceremony by Mrs Carmel Spry (CEDWW System Performance Leader). Isabella impressed the selection committee with her clear dedication and passion for education and teaching-well done Isabella and our commendations to all other students who applied. It was a strong field of applicants and it is really heartening to see so many students place education and teaching as their post-school intentions. Thank you also to Ms Reynolds and Mrs Morris (Senior Transition and Pathways Teacher) for support and inspiration.

RUOK Day

A very big thank you to Mrs Susan Hone, (MCC Student Wellbeing Officer) and all of the Student Wellbeing Leaders for the fabulous RUOK Day and week activities. It was wonderful to see so many students involved in Thursday’s RUOK Cup Challenge at lunch. We were also very grateful for the staff afternoon tea and the organisation of the Friday Dance in the Marcellin Hall. Students have also been given support information around both accessing and offering support in an age appropriate context. Remember it is okay to ask RUOK and also to reach out if you need support.

Farewell Simon Aventi

Farewell to Grounds and Maintenance Senior Support Staff -Mr Simon Aventi, who for many years has guided, cajoled, advised on and managed the facilities, buildings and the  stunning gardens of Marian Catholic College. Mr Aventi’s hard work, voluntary service and creativity will be very much missed as he leaves  to expand the family farm and its enterprises.

Mercy and Marist Spiritual Traditions & News

September 24th is a special  day for the Mercy sisters, a celebration of Mercy’s founder Catherine McAuley. The Mercy tradition forms an integral part of Marian Catholic College and its history and the Mercy Sisters acknowledge September 24th as ‘Mercy Day’. You are warmly invited to share in this by attending the regular Mass at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday Week 10 at 5.30pm.

Our other founding order is the Marist Schools Australia. On Thursday Week 9, we will be visited by Marist Director NSW  Dr John Kyle-Robinson and Mission Formation Leader Mr David Bobkowski, for a conversation with school leaders on continuing that strong commitment to a Marist spiritual tradition. Both Mercy and Marist traditions strongly emphasise the way of Mary-our Lady, with a focus on compassion, presence and service in the Marian way.
