English News

What a fantastic day our Year 10 students had at the Senior English Day on September 4th! It was a day dedicated to setting them up for success, providing them with the essential information and resources they'll need for their upcoming assessments and the transition into Year 11 English.

Students were equipped with a comprehensive booklet of resources and separate handouts focused on key skills like analytical writing, dissecting unseen texts, and understanding the distinction between discursive and persuasive writing. The English staff delivered insightful presentations, introducing students to crucial concepts such as HSC Key verbs, various writing styles (including imaginative and analytical), and how to approach unseen texts with confidence.

To cap off the day, students participated in a lively quiz on figurative language. It was a wonderful way to reinforce their learning in a fun and engaging way. We were thrilled to see such a great turnout and so much enthusiasm from our students. We are confident they now have the tools and knowledge to excel in their future English courses.

Year 7 Book Critics 'Reccommended Reads'

I have asked two of my 7 Lit students, Epi Ikenasio and Lumay De Waal, both voracious readers, to put together a 'Recommended Reads' piece for our fortnightly College newsletters.

This week Epi Ikenasio has started us off with her Recommended Read. I have attached her review!
