Senior Boys Soccer

After successfully navigating a tricky round 1 during May, the Senior Boys soccer team headed to the Grange schools reserve on Hogans Road for a place in the Metropolitan West state play off round against a plucky Werribee Secondary College as their opponent.

With some of our Year 10 players unavailable in this round with exams and CAT's aplenty, our Senior Boys were bolstered by the additions of some incredible Year 11 and 12 talent who were not available in the first game. Yaby Akbay, Musse Habtewold, Melvine and Success Jessey, Nahum Anteneh, Abraham Lotara and Emmanuel Gonda all came into the squad to add some incredible experience, each having played senior level football at clubs like Tarneit United and Hoppers Crossing Soccer Club.

The game was cagey for the first 5 minutes, with both sides testing each others keepers with shots from range. Tarneit Senior settled into a fast-paced attacking rhythm however after this point, with mercurial striker Yaby Akbay on the end of some splitting passes from Habtewold and had two one-on-one shots at the keeper saved at close range. A scything effort from Melvine Jessey was also battered away by the Werribee Secondary keeper from range. The game went to penalties and sadly we couldn't score enough goals to make it through to the next round, but the team could be very proud of the quality of football they had on display, and can use this game as a learning experience on how to be clinical with your finishing.

Our soccer teams future is bright, with quality players such as Mohan Solo, Ved Patel, Mahir Nure, Ahyan Siddiq, Alfie Reeve, Taha Noaman, Roland Lia and Johnothan Hassan having a number of years left to continue the great tradition of excellent players coming through at the College.

We'll be back with another strong squad with a lot of experience and training under our belt for next year!
