Grade 3/4/5

Week 3 already!
Our classroom has settled back in beautifully. We are continuing to learn and practise our class rules and expectations, and students are doing a great job adjusting to our routines.
In Reading and Writing, we have been focusing on persuasive pieces. Students have participated in line debates, sharing whether they agree or disagree with different statements and trying to convince me (Miss Watson!) to give them longer breaks and even a three-day weekend. They are working hard on clearly stating their opinions and supporting them with strong reasons.
In Mathematics, we have been learning about partitioning numbers and adding using an empty number line. Students are building confidence in breaking numbers apart to help solve problems more efficiently.
In Humanities, we have been exploring the natural environment of Australia and Brazil. We were especially interested to learn that the Amazon Rainforest produces around 20% of the world’s oxygen.
We also really enjoyed our recent visit from the Geelong Cats! So don’t forget to sign up for our George Street Auskick program!
