This week we celebrated The Children’s Book Council of Australia Book Week. The CBCA presents annual awards to Australian book of literary merit, for outstanding contribution to Australian children’s literature.
The Book of the Year award is annual event to promote books of high literary and artistic quality. “I’m Not Really Here” by indigenous author Gary Lonesborough won the Book of the Year for older readers (13-18 Years) which is about navigating family, friendship and romance. “Laughter is the Best Ending” by Maryam Master won the Book of the Year for younger readers (7-12 years) which is a story of hope, family, identity and heart-warming intergenerational friendship.
Our students have been encouraged to look at the displays of shortlisted books and participate in activities such as a daily online quiz.
