Red Frogs Incursion for Year 12

Last week, our senior students had the opportunity to take part in an incursion delivered by the Red Frogs organisation. Many of you may know Red Frogs for their work at Schoolies and university events, where they provide a safe and supportive presence for young people. Their visit to our school focused on party safety, decision-making, and the importance of looking out for one another.

Our students engaged positively with the session and found it both eye-opening and practical. As one student reflected, “Students personally found this incursion beneficial to their knowledge, learning about what not to do at parties.” This kind of feedback reinforces the value of bringing in programs that speak honestly to young people about real-world situations.

I would like to thank Red Frogs for their engaging presentation and ongoing commitment to supporting youth across Australia. It is reassuring to know that our students now feel more prepared to navigate social situations safely and responsibly.

Student Leadership

This week our Year 11 students had their Leadership day. A report on student leadership is being written by one of our Year 11 students and will be ready for our next Newsletter. In the meantime, I invite parents /guardians of Year 11 students to encourage your child to apply for a Student Executive position. Early in Term 4 our Year 10 and 11 students will then have the chance to apply for House Captaincy positions.

Traffic Management

Please be careful when driving in the roads around the College and be patient when collecting children at the end of the day. The larger roundabout is designed for student drop off and collection or families can choose to collect their young person from one of the surrounding streets. Please do not use the Uniform Shop/western staff car park as a drop off and pick up location. Staff who park in this park often need to leave early and so parents blocking their way while waiting for their children is both inconvenient and dangerous.

Furthermore, in the last month we have had reports of students choosing to ignore the advice of traffic wardens and cross Cranbourne Frankston Rd against the pedestrian lights. Not only is this terribly inconsiderate to drivers, it has the potential for serious injury or worse to students. Can I ask parents to remind their young people of the importance of road safety – we will remind them at school but we do find a two pronged messaging is often most effective.
