From our Principal

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

Last week we had the opportunity to come together to celebrate excellence. Our Pursuit of Excellence assembly acknowledges Year 12 students that have met a number of criteria which collectively result in a student being deemed “excellent”. The pursuit of excellence assembly is both recognition of the excellent work obtained thus far and a form of encouragement to “maintain the rage” for the final run into the exam period. In the assembly students were challenged to not consider excellence as being about perfection rather, a choice to grow. It was articulated to students’ that excellence IS about being prepared to do the hard thing, even when nobody’s watching. They were challenged to show up continuously even when it’s uncomfortable to do so. Students were asked to possess a mindset which embraces effort which in turn will result in growth and as we grow in confidence the efforts ultimately lead to striving for excellence. I congratulate our 2025 Pursuit of Excellence recipients may they, together with the class of 2025 as a collective, continue to strive for excellence in all that they undertake.

In this same assembly we were able to recognise our high performing students who achieved either excellence or significant growth in the recent NAPLAN results. I would like to acknowledge these students as they too strive for excellence in their studies.

Building Projects Update

Speaking of a growth mindset, the College is experiencing considerable enrolment growth which has resulted in a review of our master planning provision on both campuses. Below is an update on the planning and building projects on each campus:

Cranbourne Campus

In 2026 we will welcome an additional stream of year sevens, an increase to eight streams. This decision has been made based on both the current and future predicted enrolment trends. This year we welcomed the provision of a Student Services centre on the Cranbourne campus – a refurbishment of the original administration centre. To ensure an eighth steam is catered for additional General Purpose Learning Areas (GPLAs) will be created by two further refurbishment projects:

  1. The first is a reimagining of the McGuigan building to create additional classroom/s and a re-design of the staffroom workroom. An added benefit of this project will be the ability to house the MacKillop House tutor groups in the one location.

  2. The second project will be a re-design of the Library space which is likely to add additional classroom space as well as provision for a larger IT Help desk arrangement.

  3. Thirdly, a Traffic Management Plan is desperately required to manage parking and traffic flow.

Clyde North Campus

In 2026 we will welcome our second year of eight streams of year seven students on the Clyde North campus. We have been working hard to ensure we are ready to welcome the growth in numbers. Projects that either are ongoing or in different stages of readiness to commence are listed below:

1. VCE Centre of Excellence – currently under construction. This centre will house thirteen classroom spaces as well as office, staffroom spaces and a year twelve study area and common room. Anticipated to be open for the commencement of classes in 2026, this centre has the capacity to be converted into an examination centre at exam times.

2. Maintenance Shed – whilst this is not a learning space, this project is ready to get off the ground. As well as creating a purpose-built facility for our maintenance team it will provide the opportunity to re-imagine part of the Technology centre where the maintenance team currently reside to support students in their learning of Technology and Arts subjects.

3. Covered Basketball Courts – we are in the final approval stages for the construction of a covering over two of the Basketball courts to cater and support our Physical education classes as well as provide another venue for assemblies where we will be able to house the whole community with the additional benefit of protection by the elements.

St Peter’s College continues to be committed to ensuring that the learning spaces and the surrounding environment continues to be designed to promote excellence in learning. This work is ongoing and will be a constant in the coming terms and years ahead.

Enjoy the weekend and the week ahead.
