Agriculture Industry Tour
Our Agriculture students recently enjoyed an informative industry tour, organised and funded by RACE Gippsland.
The day began with visits to dairy farms in Nambrok and Winnindoo, where former Catholic College Sale students Christie Masters and Lachie Cairns welcomed our Year 10 students, while Lucy Young and her husband Cal gave our Year 11 and 12 students a behind-the-scenes look at modern dairy farming.
In the afternoon, the group travelled to Briagolong to visit Gerard and Carmen Lee, who showcased their Angus beef cattle and Aussie White sheep operation, providing valuable insights into livestock production.
A special thank you to Krishia McGannon from CQUniversity for organising such a fantastic and educational day, and to all of our hosts for generously sharing their knowledge and experience with our students.
Animal Health Seminar
Our Agriculture students recently participated in an engaging Animal Health Seminar presented by Lauren Clyne from Denison Veterinary Services.
Lauren shared her expertise on animal health and welfare, giving students valuable insights into the role of veterinarians in the agricultural industry. The seminar provided a fantastic opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and gain a greater understanding of best practices in livestock health and management.
A big thank you to Lauren and Denison Veterinary Services for taking the time to share their knowledge and support our Agriculture program.
VCE VM
It was great to see our VCE VM students attend the JobSkills Expo at Lardner Park last week.
The expo connects young people with local industries through hands-on activities, practical advice, and information about the wide range of skills, careers, and employment opportunities available across our region.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore their future options and gain a better understanding of the local workforce.
VET Cookery Dinner – Thomas Johns
We had another VET Cookery student ace his Year 2 VET Cookery assessment this week, with Thomas Johns hosting a fantastic dinner for his teachers, family, and friends.
Thomas showcased his creativity and culinary skills through a delicious Asian-inspired menu, featuring a range of flavours, textures, and techniques. Guests enjoyed an impressive selection of starters, including prawn and pork crispy wontons, Vietnamese rice paper rolls with peanut sauce, and Korean fried chicken with a gochujang glaze.
The main course continued to impress with Mongolian beef, miso salmon steaks, sesame Asian greens, and sticky rice, followed by a creative dessert selection of coffee cream jelly and mochi.
The evening was a true celebration of Thomas’ talent, dedication, and passion for cooking.
Well done Thomas!
