Create Belonging

I hope all our school community enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating break over the recent holidays. The three-week break was a time to pause and refresh after a very busy Term 2. As always, I thank our dedicated staff, who work tirelessly to create meaningful learning opportunities and wonderful experiences for our students both inside and beyond the classroom. This includes excursions, sporting events, incursions and camps.

Our VCE students are at the very busy end of their academic year, with final SACs and preparation for their upcoming exams in November. A reminder that the Ratisbonne Centre provides a study space for students after school until 6.00 pm, Monday to Thursday, and we invite our Year 12 students to take the opportunity to use this wonderful study space.

We also have some major events coming up to engage our school community. Our Performing Arts team is working hard in preparation for our school production of High School Musical Jr, and we will also have our annual Presentation Night in Term 4. We look forward to celebrating these events with our wider community.

Share Success

I would like to thank all those who attended our Pathways Evening on Thursday 23 July. The support from our school community was wonderful, and the level of engagement from our students and families is to be commended. I would like to thank Laura Considine and Kristine Morrison for organising this important event. There have been many opportunities for our students to engage in subject selection conversations, and we have now begun the process of planning for the 2027 academic year.

In March this year, our Year 7 and 9 students completed NAPLAN. All results have now been sent to families. We congratulate the following students who received certificates to acknowledge their achievements in both learning growth and excellence.

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Year 9 students in NAPLAN. The NAPLAN certificates recognise students who have achieved excellent results across the areas of Reading and Numeracy. These achievements reflect the effort, persistence and growth of our students. Strive for Excellence

At Catholic College Sale, we encourage all students to strive for excellence in everything they do. This commitment to continuous improvement is also reflected in our staff, who are dedicated to enhancing their professional practice to provide the best possible learning opportunities for students.

This year, we have been fortunate to have two teachers participate in the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership's Teaching Excellence Program. Through this valuable professional learning opportunity, they have collaborated with educators from across Victoria and gained insights from experienced leaders in the field of education.

Professional learning is a key part of our commitment to excellence. Our staff regularly engage in professional development to strengthen their knowledge and skills, ensuring they continue to deliver meaningful, engaging and high-quality learning experiences for all students. We are proud of the dedication our teachers show in continually refining their practice and contributing positively to our school community.

This term marks the last full term for our Year 12 VCE students. This is a time to stay focused, seek feedback for learning, support one another, and make every moment count. The finish line is in sight, and the whole school community is with our students every step of the way. We ask that you continue to support your child to stay focused, remain determined, and finish their studies strongly. We understand that the workload for our senior students can be heavy at times throughout the term. Staying well, being organised and building resilience are especially important at this time.

Alumni Profile - James Robbins 

CCS alumni James Robbins (class of 2020) has built a rewarding career in the agricultural industry and is now a Director of Nutrien R.G. Livestock in Sale. Working closely with local farmers and as a livestock auctioneer, James has stayed connected to the community while building a successful career.

Where's life taken you since graduating from Catholic College Sale (e.g., university, work, travel)?

Following Year 12, I headed off to Longerenong Agricultural College in Horsham and completed my Advanced Diploma of Agribusiness Management and a Diploma in Agronomy. Following two years at Ag College, I began my career as a livestock agent and auctioneer, originally being based out of Pakenham, travelling all over the state working in different areas. After spending 12 months there, I moved home to Sale to work locally in Sale and Leongatha. I'm now based full-time in Sale as a Director of Nutrien R.G. Livestock in partnership with Charlie Goff (CCS student).

What do you enjoy about your current career?

My favourite part of my job is working in the local area with local farmers to achieve the best results for their business. One of my other favourite parts is auctioneering at local saleyards.

What are some of your favourite memories from your time at Catholic College Sale, or what was your favourite school tradition or event?

Some of my favourite memories were spent on school and Outdoor Education camps, as well as the immersion to East Timor in Year 11.

What advice would you give to your younger self back in school?

Apply yourself and take every opportunity that is presented to you, and never say no.

What is one message you would like to share with today's students and teachers at Catholic College Sale?

Do what you enjoy, explore all your options for after school, and enjoy school while you are there.
