Sport at St Columba’s

On Tuesday our Year 3 and 4 students had the opportunity to compete in Hoop Time Basketball at MSAC against a number of other schools.  Not everyone chose to go but it was great to see that our biggest team was made up of Rookies, most of whom had never played in a basketball competition before.  Here is what some of our students had to say about the day:

“There were three teams, a Rookie team, an All star Team 1 and an All Star Team 2.           The mixed Rookie team won 3 games out of 5 games. One of the All Star teams won 1 out of 4 games and they were in rep in the highest division. The other All Star Team was in the second highest division.  Most of the people that were in the Rookie Team were being risk takers because lots of them had never played basketball before!  Sadly, none of the teams made it to the finals.

But everyone had FUN!”

“On the 18th of August the Year 3 and 4’s went to MSAC for Hoop Time. There were two All Star boys teams and a mixed Rookie’s team. All Star 1’s had to play against Rep players so it was hard.  But it was also the best thing I had ever done! I would definitely recommend to everyone to go to Hoop Time!”

“This was my first time at Hoop Time at MSAC (although I do play basketball in a team with my school friends).  I was in the mixed Rookie team and it was really fun to play with some new people from Grade 4.  I can’t wait to do it again next year!”
