Baseball Star - Hannah Fior

Year 9 student Hannah Fior recently returned from two international baseball tours, competing in both Japan and the United States.
Hannah first travelled to Japan after being selected to represent the Queensland Under 18 Women's Team on a high performance baseball tour. Competing against some of Japan's strongest junior teams provided an invaluable opportunity to experience one of the world's leading baseball nations while continuing to develop her skills against elite international competition.
Following Japan, Hannah travelled to Rockford, Illinois, USA, after earning selection in Team Legacy Australia Under 14 to compete in one of the world's largest and most prestigious girls' baseball tournaments. Playing alongside and against elite athletes from across the globe, Hannah proudly represented Australia while showcasing her skill, dedication, resilience and sportsmanship that have become hallmarks of her game.
In addition to representing Queensland and Australia, she also proudly represented Alice Springs wherever she played. Having developed through the Alice Springs Baseball Association, she demonstrated that exceptional talent can emerge from regional and remote Australia.
Her performances helped showcase the quality of athletes coming from Central Australia and continued to place Alice Springs on the international baseball stage.
At just 14 years of age, Hannah has already achieved a number of significant milestones. She has represented Western Australia, NT and Queensland.
In April this year, Hannah was selected in the Queensland Under 16 Women's Team, competing at the Australian Youth Women's Championships as one of the youngest players in the team.
Hannah also received two nominations for Northern Territory Junior Sportsperson of the Year and was recently awarded the Alice Springs Baseball Association Overall Junior MVP for the second consecutive season across both male and female competitors. She also made history as the first female to be named Northern Territory Junior Baseballer of the Year.
None of this would have been possible without the encouragement and support Hannah has received throughout her time at St Philip's College and the Alice Springs community.
The school has always been incredibly supportive of her sporting commitments and Hannah's family are sincerely grateful for the understanding shown by her teachers and the wider college community as she balances her academic studies with the demands of elite sport.
Hannah's family hopes Hannah's achievements inspire other St Philip's students to pursue their passions, dream big and understand that with commitment, resilience and hard work, opportunities can arise regardless of where they live.
