2026 German Luncheon

On Thursday 6th August, Year 8 German students travelled into Melbourne’s CBD for our annual German Luncheon Excursion. The day began with a train journey to Flinders Street Station before students took part in a German-themed scavenger hunt (Schatzsuche) around Federation Square and ACMI.
At ACMI, students explored a range of interactive exhibits showcasing the history of film, television and digital media.
Following our visit to ACMI, we walked to Hofbräuhaus, Melbourne’s famous German restaurant, where students enjoyed an authentic German lunch. Sharing long tables, trying traditional dishes and spending time together made for a wonderful cultural experience.
The excursion provided students with an opportunity to engage with German language and culture beyond the classroom while developing their independence and confidence in a real-world setting. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all, and we look forward to continuing this tradition in the future.
