Indonesian Lunch excursion

Indonesian students have been learning about the various Indonesian foods, their tastes and descriptions, including ordering food and making payments. To celebrate Indonesia Independence Day, students went for an Indonesian lunch excursion to have a taste of Indonesian cultural foods. The excursion provided them with an authentic experience tasting the different Indonesian foods and also using the language learnt to make conversations. 

Students had the opportunity to taste various entrees, mains, desserts and drinks. At the restaurant, students used Indonesian to order food and describe the tastes of the dishes. 

These are some of the feedback from the participating students:

‘The roti, curry, nasi goreng, mie goreng and banana fritters were delicious. I would love to go there again!’, Evie Y8

‘Kentang goreng dan sate ayam rasanya enak sekali’, Rebecca Y8.

‘We ate seafood laksa which was hot and spicy but tasted delicious. We had banana fritters with ice-cream and it was one of the best desserts we have ever eaten’, Zoe and Juniper, Year 9.

‘Saya makan pisang goreng dan es-krim. Teman saya makan nasi goreng dan ayam. Enak sekali!” Sylvie dan Jas C, Year 8.

“The food and the place were lovely. There were lots of amazing cultural pictures of Indonesia decorated throughout the walls of the restaurant”, Jaz, Y8

‘We, year 12 Indonesian students will always remember these wonderful lunch excursions with our teacher and friends. We will miss these outings!’ Yr 12
