CSSA State Volleyball Tournament

The Secondary School had an amazing trip away to Sydney last week. Taking 3 teams to the CSSA State Volleyball tournament. The 2 days were full of extremely talented teams and some hard-fought victories and losses. The teams competed well throughout the tournament and came away holding their heads high.

Open Girls - Won 3 pool games and lost one pool game to the team who placed 4th. The girls gelled extremely well after their first game. Aside from the 5minute fade out, they were probably one of the strongest teams there on the day.

Open Mixed - Gelled unbelievably well on the day. Made up of mostly Year 10 students with our courageous captain Lillian from Year 12 being the only senior. Most schools there were really strong. Unfortunately, another tail of woah. The winner of our pool went on to win the whole tournament. We lost to them in the second set by 1 point when we were up 14-11 (first to 15 wins the set). So, this says something about the team.

Open Boys - Placed third in our pool of 5, deservedly so. The 2 teams above us were unreal. They were extremely well drilled and could receive and block sensationally. Just a different level. But our boys didn’t drop their heads and played out the day really well with 2 tight losses. One tight well-fought win and one comfortable win.

It was a great 2 days of competition and 3 days away with our amazing young men and women.

For the first time, CIS girls have won the title, and for the first time ever, both the boys’ and girls’ teams have won their respective championships at the same time across any association.

This outstanding result reflects the effort and dedication of everyone involved and is a proud moment for our entire school community.
