Victoria Police visit DPS
On the second day of term, two officers from Victoria Police visited our Grade 5 and 6 students to speak about a range of issues relevant to young people in today’s environment.
With students increasingly engaging with a variety of online platforms and applications, the session provided a valuable opportunity to reinforce the importance of staying safe and making responsible choices online.
Please find below reflections from a selection of our students following the session.
On the 23rd of April two Victoria Police officers from Forest Hill Police Station came to Donvale Primary School. Their names were Verity and Laura. Verity had been working as a police officer for 14 years, and Laura who had two years of experience. They came here to teach us about cyber-safety and how to be safe online. We watched two videos , one of them was to find what had been wrong in this post. We identified mostly all of them. The second video was about Kids Helpline. We could call them and discuss our problem, it was open 24/7. We had questions at the end, both of the officers had pepper spray and one of them had taser. we even got to feel real handcuffs.

On the 23rd of April the 2 Victoria Police officers, from Forest Hill came to Donvale Primary School. Verity, who had 14 years of experience and Laura, who had just over 2 years of experience. We learned about cyber-safety and how to be safe online. They also showed us some of the equipment they had on their vests, like Laura’s taser, and their pepper spray. We watched some videos, and had a look at handcuffs (which are very heavy!).

Annual Gymnastics classes have started!
Our annual gymnastics program has now commenced, with students travelling to the DISC to begin their sessions. Upon arrival, students have been organised into groups and have already begun developing their skills across a range of gymnastics routines. It has been fantastic to see students actively participating, building confidence, and challenging themselves in a new environment.
Date change - Winter Round Robin
Please note that the original dates for the Winter Round Robin dates have slightly changed. They will now be held on the final two Thursdays of this term (June 18 and 25).
