Term 2

Senior School PE (Grade 3-6)

Our senior school PE sessions will continue to see students developing their movement and object control skills, and applying those skills in small team games. Our sports of focus for the term will be basketball, netball and european handball, and our focus on being active and having fun will continue.

The term will also see the District Cross Country event on May 22nd, and our Grade 5 and 6 students will participate in the Winter Sport Round Robin on June 18th and 25th.

Junior School PE (Grade 1 and 2s)

Our Grade 1s and 2s will continue to build on their term one start in developing their fundamental movement and object control skills. Students will participate in a basketball clinic with the Bulleen Boomers in week two, before continuing to practice their basketball skills further into the term. Students will also participate in the Jump Rume for Heart program, which is always a favourite for our junior school. As the term and year progresses, we will continue to work on what is means for our students to work and play as part of a team, what is means to be a good team member, all the while with fun at each lessons core!

Prep PE

Prep students will be developing their fundamental movement skills through a range of fun activities this term. We begin with throwing, focusing on both overarm and underarm techniques, followed by a special Bulleen Boomers incursion.

From Week 3, students will begin the Jump Rope for Heart skipping program, which will run for five weeks.  Each session will include themed activities such as Beating Hearts, Morning Exercise, Move Your Body, and Skipping Games, helping students build fitness, coordination, and confidence while promoting healthy habits.

Later in the term, students will practise throwing and catching through rotations and finish with a fun “Pick Your Adventure” session.

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart kicks off this term at Donvale Primary School!

Jump Rope for Heart is the Heart Foundation’s primary school skipping challenge that helps kids move more, have fun, and raise funds for life-saving research and programs. This year we’ve got an audacious goal to see our student Heart Heroes at Donvale Primary School to log 100 hours of skipping throughout the program!

Register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents

Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
