Years 4 & 6

I would like to give credit to the Year 4 & 6 students for the smooth start to Term 3. We dove straight into our class novel Dirrarn which is the sequel to last term’s reading, Black Cockatoo. Using the Hexagonal thinking strategy, the students worked in pairs to discuss how key ideas and topics within the texts connect to each other. The students had to justify the connections they made by reflecting back on evidence in the texts. I was really impressed with the conversations and critical thinking this activity sparked.

We have kicked off Maths this term with a focus on Multiplication and Division. We have been working on developing strategies for multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals by multiples of powers of 10. The Place Value (come Hopscotch) masking tape mat on the floor has been a valuable tool for students to physically manipulate numbers when multiplying and dividing by powers of ten. We will power on into week 4 next week!

Are you chicken me out?

Have a great weekend everyone.
