Notes from the Principal

100 days at school
It was so great to see family and friends attend our school to help the children celebrate 100 days at school on Tuesday 29th July. Have a look at the photos attached to the newsletter.
Book Week - change of date
We have changed the date of our Book Week Dress Up Day to Thursday 21st August. This date will suit the Kindergarten better. I am very disappointed that I will not be in attendance for this as I have a Principal's Network Meeting that day. I look forward to seeing the photos!
Sporting Schools - withdrawn
Due to the Shrek Musical and Jump Rope for Heart we have decided to withdraw our application for Term 3 Sporting Schools. We just don't have enough time this Term to run the program.
Shrek the Musical
Preparations and rehearsals are well underway. I hope that the songs are being practised in the car, at the dinner table, in ba shower etc! I expect every parent to know every word by the time September 5th rolls around! Mrs Huf has organised some Sunday rehearsals - 24th and 31st August. These will be in the theatre at Monivae from 10:30am-2:30pm. Students will need to bring lunch, snacks and a water bottle. I know it is difficult for some families to commit to these days, but your support would be greatly appreciated. I will be at both, and we will supervise your children - no need to stay.
New School Website
We have updated our school website. When you have some spare time, get on and have a look and see what you think. Feedback is always welcome.

Jump Rope for Heart
We have registered to participate in Jump Rope for Heart this Term. Jump Rope for Heart is the Heart Foundation’s primary school skipping challenge that helps kids move more, have fun, and raise funds for lifesaving research and programs.
Please register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents
Students will be practising skipping during recess and lunch times, and for PE. During this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause. We will hold our school Jump Off Day on the last day of school, Friday 19th September. This will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills. Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
Damian Callinan @ The Soldiers Memorial Hall
"And a great time was had by all". It was a great evening of laughs with Damian Callinan on Saturday 1st August. Many thanks to Mrs Bell for taking on the organisation from the school's point of view. And to our lovely Trish Hurley for running a raffle and donating her chef services. Aside from the fundraising , it was a night of innocent comedy. Damian did a fantastic job, story telling and giving locals the opportunity to share their stories. And Tim and I came home reigning champions of the Plunger Quoit competition! Our technique was outstanding, maintaining the excellent results we achieve at Cavendish Primary School.
Parents Club 2025 Registration Form
If you are in Parents Club and are yet to return your 2025 Registration Form please do so at your earliest convenience. The form was sent out on our school app or you can request a copy from the office.
Have a great fortnight.
Warmest regards,
Kate Steele
