Interschool Sports Finals

Our students recently demonstrated incredible teamwork and determination at the interschool sport finals. Competing against other schools, they gave their very best both on and off the field, demonstrating resilience, respect, and enthusiasm.
Below are some student-written highlights capturing the excitement of the day
Today, our team played Lighthouse College in what was an intense and exciting match. There were many highlights throughout the game, including two fantastic goals from Jacky. David was outstanding in goal, making numerous saves and keeping us in the contest. Damien was unlucky not to score after a powerful shot from halfway struck the post, while Weaab was unfortunate to have a certain goal ruled offside. In defence, Eric, Pony, Mellina and John formed an unstoppable combination, while Nelson and Ernest worked tirelessly to pressure the Lighthouse players in both attack and defence.
Xavier, Ayaan and the rest of the team played some of their best soccer of the season, contributing strongly across the field. In the end, Lighthouse narrowly won 3–2 in a closely fought match that many agreed was the game of the season.
Congratulations to Lighthouse on their victory, and a huge well done to the 2026 Athol Road Mixed Soccer Team for finishing as runners-up. We are incredibly proud of your effort, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

On Friday 19th June, our mixed netball team played the district finals. We played Heatherhill PS. Unfortunately we lost 19-5 but we still tried our best against such a tough competitor. They intercepted all of our passes and shot many goals despite our strong defence. Even though we lost, we were still grateful and proud for the chance to compete in the district finals. We would like to shout out Florence and Amara for their amazing goals, Evelynn for her great rebounding as goal defender, and lastly, Kana and Hawa for having good intercepts as mid courts. We are looking forward to a great and new season with our summer sports next term!
