Year 5/6 Inquiry Expo
Yesterday, our Year 5/6 students hosted an outstanding Expo showcasing their learning from Term 2 linked to their Inquiry unit on Australia's colonial history. The exhibition featured an impressive range of work, including digital presentations, creative posters, and detailed three-dimensional models and dioramas.
I was particularly impressed by the way students confidently articulated their learning and the high standards they demonstrated throughout both their projects and presentations. As I walked through the Expo, I learned about significant events and people from Australia's colonial era, including the Gold Rush, Frontier Wars, Batman Treaty, Rum Rebellion, the crossing of the Blue Mountains, and various explorers who helped shape Australia's history. This inquiry unit also deepened the students understanding of the experiences and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and highlighted the ongoing importance of Reconciliation.
A sincere thank you to our Year 5/6 team for creating such a rich and engaging learning experience for our students. Thank you also to the many parents and family members who attended and shared in the students' learning. Your support helps make these opportunities so meaningful.
Parent Group
Yesterday's Parent Group gathering was filled with wonderful food, conversation and laughter. It was lovely to hear everyone sharing recipes, cooking tips and stories about family traditions centred around food.
One recipe I discovered was Stuffed Paratha, a delicious Pakistani breakfast dish. It was so delicious that I plan to try making it with my family during the school holidays!
A special thank you to Nubala, Miraal's mum, for sharing her expertise and leading the cooking session. Thank you also to all of our Parent Group members who continue to create such a warm and welcoming environment.
New members are always welcome, so please don't be shy, come along and join us at any time. The group meets every Wednesday at 2:00pm in the Breakfast Club Room in the Early Learning Centre. We'd love to see some new faces, the more, the merrier!
New Soccer Goals
Have you seen our new soccer goals? They're certainly hard to miss!
The students are absolutely loving them, and with the World Cup excitement, their arrival couldn't have come at a better time. It has been fantastic to see our students enthusiastically playing soccer and enjoying their new soccer goals!
A big thank you to our Student Voice Council, who first brought this idea forward and advocated for the project. Thank you also to School Council for approving the funding, and to Mr Keleher and Greg for helping bring the project to life.
Student Voice Council continues to make a significant impact across our school. Their leadership, ideas and commitment are helping drive many purposeful initiatives and events. Well done to all involved.
REMINDERS:
Mid-Year Reports
Mid-year reports are now available on Sentral. If you require assistance accessing your child's report, please refer to the instructions on Sentral or contact the school office.
Due to industrial action, reports do not include written teacher comments this semester. However, reports do provide academic progression points and effort ratings, enabling families to clearly see student achievement against the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
Further discussion regarding your child's progress will take place during Parent-Teacher Interviews in Week 2 of Term 3.
End of Term Arrangements
Tomorrow is the final day of Term 2 and students will finish at 2:30pm. Unless your child is booked into OSHC, please ensure they are collected promptly or have suitable arrangements in place.
As part of Reward Time tomorrow, students will have the option to watch the Australia vs Paraguay soccer match at 12:00pm. Alternative reward activities, selected through Student Voice, will also be available for students who prefer a different option.
As we conclude another successful term, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for their ongoing support and partnership. We wish everyone a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3 on Monday 13 July.
