Wellbeing and Inclusion Update

Student Wellbeing at ARPS
At Athol Road Primary School, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. While academic achievement is important, we know that students learn best when they feel safe, connected and supported.
Earlier this term, students in Years 1 – 6 completed the ACER Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEW) Survey. This survey gives us valuable insights into how our students are feeling and experiencing school by exploring areas such as:
Emotional wellbeing – how students feel and manage their emotions.
Resilience and self-concept – their confidence and ability to respond to challenges.
Social skills and relationships – how they connect with peers and teachers.
School connectedness – whether students feel safe, valued and that they belong.
Help-seeking – how comfortable students are asking for support when they need it.
We are incredibly proud to share that Athol Road Primary School achieved a mean SEW score of 120.4, compared with the national average of 118.7.
While it is wonderful to celebrate this result, the greatest value of the survey is hearing directly from our students. Their voices help us understand what is working well, identify patterns across year levels, and recognise where additional support may be needed. Our School Psychologist has worked with staff to analyse the data, and each Professional Learning Team (PLT) will use these insights to plan strategies that continue to strengthen student wellbeing across the school.
Thank you to all of our students who shared their thoughts so openly. Their feedback plays an important role in shaping the way we support every child at ARPS.
As we reach the halfway point of the year, it is hard to believe how quickly the time has flown! As we head into the term break, we encourage all families to take the opportunity to prioritise their own wellbeing. Whether it's spending time outdoors, enjoying a family movie night, baking together, catching up with friends and loved ones, or simply slowing down and enjoying a quieter routine, we hope everyone finds time to rest, recharge and reconnect.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another fantastic term. Have a safe and enjoyable break, and we'll see you in Term 3!
Connected, supported, thriving.
