Unit 3/4 Food Studies

Our Unit 3/4 Food Studies students are currently completing their Unit 4, Area of Study 1 School-Assessed Coursework (SAC). Throughout this unit, students have explored food information and misinformation, examining how food knowledge, skills and habits are developed. They have learnt to critically assess food claims and use evidence-based research to navigate contemporary food fads, trends and diets.

As part of the practical component of their SAC, students recreated the viral Erewhon Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Sking Smoothie, analysing both the recipe and the nutritional claims surrounding this popular social media trend. Students will now build on this experience in their written SAC by evaluating the food information presented online and investigating the influence of social media and celebrity endorsements on consumer food choices.
