Week 10 Update
As another action packed term comes to an end, I would like to congratulate our entire LNPS community on a fantastic first semester. Schools are vibrant, fast paced places, and every day brings new opportunities for our students to learn, grow and challenge themselves.
This semester has been another incredible one for our school. Whether it has been in the classroom, on the sporting field, through music and the arts, leadership opportunities, camps, excursions or the many extra-curricular programs on offer, our students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and pride.
I would also like to acknowledge our outstanding staff. Their passion, dedication and commitment to providing the very best opportunities for every child is what makes Lockleys North Primary School such a special place. I am continually grateful for the care, professionalism and energy they bring to our school each and every day.
Staffing Update
Firstly, a huge congratulations to Hamish Ridgway, who has been appointed as our Physical Education Teacher for Semester 2. This is a particularly special appointment, as Hamish is a former LNPS student and currently works as an educator in our OSHC program. We love seeing our old scholars return to give back to the school community, and we know Hamish will be a wonderful role model for our students. Congratulations, Hamish!
We are also pleased to share that Linting Huang will continue in R7, Aleksia Obradovic will continue teaching in M5 on Wednesdays, while Emma Chesterman will be leading Science for our Mid-Year Reception students.
We are also pleased to welcome Maddie Moore back to the team. Maddie will be teaching M1 on Thursdays and R8 on Fridays.
Mid-Year Reception
We are thrilled to welcome 28 Mid-Year Reception students to the LNPS family, our largest Mid-Year Reception intake to date! To support these students as they begin their learning journey, we will have two Mid-Year Reception classes, with Emily Haller teaching in R9 and Amy Byrnes and Maddie Moore in M1.
Mid-Year Progress Reports
It is coming to the end of the First Semester and Mid Year Progress Reports have been emailed to families and are available in the EMS Community Portal. If you are not able to access the EMS Community Portal, please contact Vanessa on 8443 5544.
Mellor Redevelopment
We are excited to share that the long-awaited repair and redevelopment of the outdoor area outside M5 and M6 will commence during the school holidays.
The area will be temporarily closed while the works are completed, with the project expected to be finished during Weeks 2–3 of Term 3.
During the works:
Access to M5 and M6 will continue via the ramp.
The playground will remain open and accessible.
Access through the Grallina Street gate will be confirmed once we return nextterm, as this will depend on the progress of the construction works.
These improvements have been in planning for almost 12 months, and we are delighted to finally see the project get underway. Once complete, the upgraded space will be more accessible, functional and welcoming for our students, staff and families, while continuing to support outdoor learning and play.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while these improvements are taking place and look forward to the finished space being accessible next term.
Early Dismissal
Just a reminder that we have early dismissal at 2:10pm this Friday.
We encourage everyone to take full advantage of the upcoming winter break by relaxing, recharging, and spending quality time with loved ones. We look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for a successful second semester!
Finally, I will be on leave in Week 1 of next term to celebrate my 20th Wedding Anniversary. Mirjana will be Acting Principal and will be supported by Anton and Amy Loprete.
