Year 3
Amanda Dawson
Our Year 3 students had a fantastic day at Sovereign Hill as part of our Inquiry learning this term. Through our big question, ‘What are our Stories?’, students have been exploring what life was like in the past and how people’s experiences can differ over time. The excursion gave students the opportunity to step back in time and connect their classroom learning to real-life experiences.
Throughout the day, students enjoyed a range of hands-on activities, including gold panning, attending class at an old schoolhouse and candle dipping, which were definite highlights! They also explored the old streets, buildings and shops while learning about daily life during the gold rush. It was wonderful to see students showing curiosity, enthusiasm and respect throughout the day.
They represented Greenvale Primary School beautifully and asked thoughtful questions as they explored the many different experiences Sovereign Hill had to offer. A big thank you to our parent helpers for supporting the excursion and helping make the day such a success.
Here are some photos capturing some of the highlights from our day!
