Physical Education (Katherine/Mrs Simpson)

It has been a fantastic start to the term in Physical Education! During our PE sessions, students have been developing their basketball skills by practising catching, throwing and dribbling. Our focus has been on using correct technique, with students learning to push the ball with an open hand at hip height. Our more experienced basketballers have been challenging themselves by keeping their eyes up while dribbling and confidently alternating hands.

A huge congratulations to the following Year Five and Six students who have been selected to represent Miners Rest Primary School at the Eureka Division Basketball competition. We wish them all the very best!

Girls A: Paige, Lilah, Willow, Ainsley, Stevie, Abbey and Alirah

Girls B: Georgia, Victoria, Jessie, Harley, Elly, Ava and Dempsey

Boys A: Ethan, Nate, Braxton, Fletcher, Tanner, Zanda and James

Boys B: Ollie, River, Braxton, Charlie, Elias, James, Seth and Mitchell

We are also excited to announce that our Gymnastics program begins in Week 4. Qualified gymnastics coaches will be working with students over four weeks, teaching a range of fundamental gymnastics skills including tucks, rolls, handstands and cartwheels. Sessions will be held onsite during school hours. Please keep an eye out for permission notes, which will be sent home this week.

Finally, a reminder that the Eureka Athletics Carnival will be held on 9 September. We wish all of our participating students the very best as they prepare for this exciting event.
