From the Classroom - D4 (Miss Claire)

Learning Multiplication
D4 have been learning that multiplication is all about making equal groups and finding the total. Using hands-on materials, pictures and real-life examples, students have been creating equal groups and working out how many there are altogether.
To help us solve multiplication problems, we have also been practising skip counting. Students are becoming more confident counting by 2s, 5s and 10s, helping them recognise patterns and quickly find the total in a collection of equal groups.
It has been wonderful to see students using mathematical language such as groups of, equal groups, altogether and total as they explain their thinking. We are proud of the enthusiasm and confidence they are showing as they build strong foundations in multiplication.
