Year 1/2 Learning Reflection
Weeks 1 & 2
Term 3

It has been a wonderful start to Term 3! The students have settled back into the classroom routines beautifully and have been working hard. We are proud of the positive attitude and enthusiasm they are showing towards their learning.

Our Grade 1 students enjoyed matching season names with their weather characteristics as they explored the changing seasons.

Busy mathematicians at work, investigating polygons and practising number bonds to build confidence with addition and subtraction.

Practising our High Frequency Words is a daily part of the Core Literacy Block.

In grade one, we've also started learning how to read, write and spell polysyllabic words, like zigzig, sunset and topic, during our phonics sessions. We can't wait to keep building these skills and practice with more complex words and spellings.

We used our Sounds Write words to create silly sentences. It was great fun and we were all excited to share with one another during our gallery.

We are learning about how Sunshine Heights Primary School is connected to Kororoit Creek and the history of the land. We enjoyed sharing our ideas about this connection through writing and drawing. Our work is up on display for all to admire.

When teachers ask students to 'Chin It', this is a way to 'Check for Understanding (CFU)' and correct at the point of need. Students were practising addition and subtraction problems.

We've enjoyed getting back into the library after the holidays and exploring all the different books it has to offer with our classmates.
