Saints Open Boys Impress at NQ All Schools Touch - Katie Brimstone, Manager
On 29 and 30 August, our Open Boys Touch team made an impressive debut at the NQ All Schools Touch Competition in Townsville, competing against some of North Queensland’s leading school teams.
Led by captain Kade Robinson, the boys were competitive throughout the weekend, recording two impressive victories over Ignatius Park B (6–4) and Townsville Grammar (8–0) and finishing second on the ladder following the round games.
The young Saints side also showed they were more than capable of competing with established powerhouse touch schools. They led Kirwan for much of their round encounter and put former national champions Ignatius Park A under significant pressure, holding the lead for the opening 15 minutes before eventually going down in a hard-fought contest. In Sunday’s semi-final, the boys again faced Kirwan, with a handful of unforced errors proving costly in a competitive 5–3 loss.
With only five Year 12 students in the squad, the team should be extremely proud of what they achieved in their first appearance at the competition. Most importantly, the boys represented the College exceptionally well throughout the weekend, demonstrating excellent behaviour, sportsmanship and attitude on and off the field. Their conduct was a credit to themselves, their families and the College.

The future looks bright for Saints touch, with a talented young squad gaining valuable experience against some of the strongest Touch schools in the state. Mr Brimstone’s three-year plan to bring the silverware north is officially underway!

JSS
Our JSS boys' teams have made a strong start to the season. Across our five sports we've played 1 matches for twelve wins, one draw and just two losses. That record puts St Augustine's first on the JSS Boys Standings with 52 points, clear of Bentley Park College on 37 and MacKillop on 23.
