Here we are in Term Four. While it may feel like we are racing to the finish line, as you will see throughout this week’s newsletter, there is still so much learning still happening!

With the sun shining most days, it has been an absolute joy to see students being active and playing together during break times. Netball games are in full swing, cricket has fired up, and the bikes are out with many laps being clocked, resulting in tired legs and happy bodies by the end of the day.

There has also been a wonderful lift in the shared responsibility our students are showing for the school. Some are helping train our new chickens to come when called so they can begin grazing in the vineyard, some have been revisiting agreed soccer rules, whilst others have been enthusiastically cleaning up the gardens at lunchtime and even after school.

As many of you have noticed, there is a real energy in our school community at the moment, including welcoming new Assistant Parish Priest, Fr Wahid, who dropped into school on Friday to say hello to staff and students. He was a breath of fresh air, sharing many blessings with our entire community. He are Fr John Healy are looking forward to spending more time getting to know all of us in the coming months.

With a full term ahead, there are many events in the calendar as well as plenty of ways to get involved and support our school and students.

Watch our choir perform or see our art on display at the Sunbury Show (Saturday 11th October)
Support our Learning Diversity Leader, Kathleen Masters, as she prepares for her Charity trek for Ovarian Cancer.

Every action, big or small, helps strengthen our community and allows us to live out our

Catholic mission to serve and care for one another. In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus heals many, yet it is the leper who returns to give thanks that reminds us of the importance of gratitude in the midst of service. We are called to show thanks at every opportunity, both to God and to one another.

With this in mind, I would like to thank everyone who has been so kind and supportive of our school community. There is much to do, but the gift of every day and every interaction brings new opportunities for grace and thanksgiving.

Bake Sales are Back!

Get ready to whisk up some fun! Each Friday afternoon straight after assembly, our school will be sharing the honey joy with our Friday Bake Sales.

Each class will take a turn to rise to the occasion, donating delicious treats to share. Details for each class will be sent via Operoo.

We can't think of a batter way to spend a Friday afternoon, catch up with friends, and support our school at the same time.

So don't dessert us and join us for a sweet start to the summer!

Visit from the Hon. Rob Mitchell MP

On Friday 17th October, the Honourable Rob Mitchell MP will be visiting our school to present new flags for our flagpoles.

Earlier in Term 3, our school captain, Sienna, took the initiative to write to Mr Mitchell requesting replacement flags, as our existing flags had become worn and damaged. She was thrilled to receive not only a positive response but also the news that Mr Mitchell himself would visit the school to present the new flags during assembly.

We look forward to warmly welcoming him to our beautiful school.

Summer Uniform

It was great to see so many students applying sunscreen and donning their hats during break times from the very start of the week. During Term 4, all students are required to wear their summer uniform. There is a two-week grace period at the start of the term to give families time to purchase any new items. Please remember that school hats are compulsory from the beginning of term. As the UV index is regularly over 3, students will also be encouraged to wear sunscreen. You can apply this at home, supply your own, and sunscreen will also be available for students to use at school.

Additionally, if you’re missing any items, please check the lost property in the multi purpose room. It has built up quite a collection!

All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
