October - The Month of the Rosary
October is dedicated to one of the most well-known Catholic devotions, the Holy Rosary, with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary celebrated on the 7th. This devotion was introduced by Pope St. Pius V in 1571.
To honour this, our classes have been spending time praying the Rosary and learning the prayers that make it up. Contrary to what some may think, when we pray the Rosary we don’t pray to Mary; rather, we ask for her intercession. We know from Jesus’ first miracle that He listens to His mother, so praying the Rosary is a powerful way to draw closer to Jesus.
The Rosary also invites us to walk with Mary, accompanying her through the life of Jesus, while inviting her to accompany us on our own faith journey.
Whether you prayed the Rosary as a child or have never prayed it before, there are many ways to bring this beautiful prayer into your daily life.
