Term 4 - Sustainability

Term 4 has started well with all this sunshine! Students have had a wonderful time exploring what our term long unit will be - Sustainability. Each year level began exploring this theme in a variety of ways.

After reading the beautiful story 'Cool for you', our Prep to Year 2 students made their own telescopes and took time to walk around the school looking for signs of beauty. We spotted all the wonderful birds, nature and resources we need to care for in our world.

Year 3's and 4's watched the powerful short film 'Our Earth' and brainstormed what the term sustainability actually means to them. And the Year 5's and 6's conducted their own audit of how Holy Cross is going with sustainability issues and actions. There is a lot we will continue to explore this term through cooking, making, researching and developing new ways of working, all aimed at making more sustainable choices for our school and planet.

Term 4 - Outdoor Education sales

As the veggie garden develops, we will be selling produce every fortnight after Assembly. Please look out for your Sustainability leaders who will be there to sell what produce we have. As the term progresses, we anticipate a lot more and we will be making small hand made items (bath salts, homewares etc.) as we learn about easy sustainable practices from the garden. If anyone has any items they wish to contribute and sell also (lemons, herbs, flowers) please get in contact with the office or Edwina Mintern. All proceeds will go to developing more produce for the school community.
