Primary School

On Monday 3 August, our Kindergarten students celebrated the exciting milestone of 100 Days of School by dressing up as either 100-year-olds or in bright, colourful outfits. The celebrations began with a proud parade through the Primary School before students enjoyed a variety of engaging activities inspired by the number 100. They completed writing and counting challenges, created colourful crowns and other 100 Days crafts, and participated in fun games with their Year 5 buddies. The day also included a delicious shared lunch and a disco to celebrate this special occasion.

A huge thank you to our Kindergarten teachers, staff, and parent volunteers for helping make the day so memorable. A special thank you to Sarah Wildes for generously giving her time to help prepare the delicious food enjoyed by our students. We would also like to acknowledge our wonderful Communications team, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day so colourful, vibrant, and memorable for everyone involved.

Academic Co-Curricular Tournament of the Minds (TOM)

This term, a dedicated group of students from Years 3 to 6 has been working collaboratively on their long-term challenges in preparation for the upcoming Tournament of Minds competition in Bendigo on Saturday 15 August. The students have generously dedicated many lunchtimes, afternoons and weekends to their preparation. Throughout the process, they have strengthened their collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, while learning to work effectively with peers across different year levels.

The Language Literature Team has written an original radio play about zombies taking over the world. As part of their challenge, they have created three short episodes that serve as a preview of a larger 20-part series. Their production features an engaging storyline and a variety of sound effects designed to capture the imagination of a young audience through the power of storytelling.

The Social Sciences Team has explored the economic, environmental, and ethical considerations involved in sourcing, designing, producing, and marketing limited-edition T-shirts for a school fundraiser. The team chose to create shirts featuring humorous sayings inspired by some of our teachers, with proceeds supporting the Starlight Children's Foundation.

The Primary School community wishes all participating students the very best for this weekend's competition. We are incredibly proud of their commitment, creativity, and teamwork, and we look forward to hearing about their experiences and achievements.

LifeChanger: Understanding the Power of Emotions

This week, our Year 6 students had the opportunity to take part in the next workshop in the LifeChanger Journey Program series.  The series focuses on helping young people understand and harness the power of their emotions. Throughout the workshop, students explored emotions, resilience, personal strengths, and the importance of meaningful connections with others. Through interactive activities, students practised recognising and managing their emotions effectively, building emotional awareness and developing practical strategies for responding to life's challenges in a positive way.

The program is designed to help students emerge better equipped to navigate difficulties with a positive mindset, develop a stronger understanding of how their values and strengths shape their identity, and create deeper, more meaningful connections with their peers. Our students had plenty to say about their experience in the workshops:

"In LifeChanger we learned about our emotions. We played lots of fun games such as stand up, sit down and acting out our emotions. It was very fun and I can't wait for LifeChanger again next term."

Spotlight on Art

Year 4 students have been busy creating their Fiji Masi-inspired calico bags, exploring traditional motifs, patterns and colour while experimenting with fabric dye and stencil techniques. They have also begun exploring weaving and fibre art, learning how to wrap and weave yarn to create their own turtle artworks. It has been wonderful to see students develop patience, fine motor skills and creativity while connecting their artmaking to the rich cultural traditions of the South Pacific.

Early Stage 1 News

The Kindergarten students have enjoyed a very big and exciting two weeks of school, celebrating some important milestones together. After marking 100 Days of School, the Kinders reached another exciting milestone when they travelled on a bus together to watch the school production at the Paramount Theatre. For many students, this was a first-time experience and a much-anticipated highlight before the performance even began. The production was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and provided a wonderful experience for our Kindergarten students.

A special congratulations to the five students who received a Kinder Superstar Award at the Stage Assembly for consistently demonstrating our school values and being positive role models. We are very proud of their efforts. Well done to these students.
