Mary Poppins Jr. Production

Mary Poppins Jr. - A Practically Perfect Celebration!

What an extraordinary way to bring our 2026 musical theatre production to a close!

After five months of rehearsals and preparation; singing, choreography, costume fittings, set design, sourcing props, technical preparation and countless hours behind the scenes - our students took to the stage at the Echuca Paramount last Friday and Saturday night for Mary Poppins Jr. - and what a show it was!

Our talented cast transported audiences into the magical world of Mary Poppins, filling the stage with energy and joy. From the opening moments, when our Show Band entertained audiences with a selection of musical theatre favourites including The Greatest Show and Grease, through to the final bows, our students demonstrated not only their incredible talent, but also the confidence, resilience and teamwork they have developed throughout the rehearsal process.

Behind our performers was an equally dedicated team of staff and students working across backstage and technical crews, Front of House, and Hair and Makeup. From lightning-fast costume changes and seamless scene transitions to props, technical cues, filming, hair and makeup, audience seating and the countless other details that audiences rarely see, an enormous amount of work came together behind the scenes to make each performance possible.

A production of this scale is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a community works together. We are incredibly grateful to the staff and production team who shared their expertise, time and creativity; to our volunteers and families who supported students throughout the rehearsal period; and to everyone who contributed in ways both big and small to make the production possible.

Most importantly, we are incredibly proud of our students. They embraced the challenge, supported one another and stepped well beyond their comfort zones. Throughout the process, they learnt that a great production is not simply about what happens under the spotlight; it is about showing up, working together, solving problems, encouraging others and being part of something bigger than yourself.

For many students, this production was also an opportunity to discover new strengths, build friendships, develop confidence and experience the incredible sense of achievement that comes from working towards a shared goal. Watching our students grow from the first rehearsals to their final performances has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the entire experience.

We are also incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give our students the experience of performing in a professional theatre environment at the Echuca Paramount. Standing on that stage, in front of an audience, was the culmination of months of hard work and a wonderful achievement for every student involved.

To our Mary Poppins Jr. cast, Show Band and crews - congratulations! Your hard work, commitment, courage and enthusiasm made this production something very special, and we could not be prouder of you.

As Mary Poppins reminds us, “Anything can happen if you let it.”

Over the past five months, our students have certainly shown us just how much can happen when young people are given the opportunity to dream big, work hard and create something extraordinary together.

Well done, everyone. You were practically perfect in every way!

Kind regards,

Mrs Fiona Gibbs
