Attendance

Link: Attendance Policy

Daily attendance is important for all children and young people to succeed in education and to ensure they do not fall behind both socially and developmentally. School participation maximises life opportunities for children and young people by providing them with education and support networks. School helps people to develop important skills, knowledge and values that set them up for further learning and participation in their community.

Both schools and parents have an important role to play in supporting students to attend school every day.

Camps, Tours & Excursions

Camps, excursions, tours, and incursions are an integral part of the school curriculum as they enable students to explore, extend and enrich their learning and their social skills development in a non-school setting.

Our Camps, Tours & Excursions policy is intended to complement the Department’s policy and guidelines on excursions, camps and adventure activities which all Victorian government schools are required to follow. Eltham High School will follow both this policy, as well as the Department’s policy and guidelines when planning for and conducting these activities.

Health Care Needs Policy

At Eltham High School we work with families to ensure that clear plans and processes are developed and maintained to support students’ healthcare needs, either on enrolment or when a healthcare need is identified. A Student Health Support Plan for students who may need medical care or assistance will be prepared by the First Aid Officer in conjunction with the Sub-School (leader or coordinator) in consultation with the student, their parents, carers, and treating medical practitioners.

The Health Care Needs policy should be read with Eltham High School’s First Aid, Administration of Medication, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma policies.

First Aid and Administration of Medication

Eltham High School has a responsibility to provide first aid to members of the school community including students, staff and visitors to the school. Regular updates of medical conditions will be sought from parents and students to maintain an accurate and current record of all students with identified medical conditions.

If a student requires medication, it is strongly encouraged for the medication to be arranged to be taken outside of school hours. We will follow procedures set out in our policy Administration of Medication to safely manage any necessary provision of medication to students while at school or during school activities undertaken outside of the school grounds such as camps and excursions.
