Griffins Chair Update

The Winter Griffins are in full swing, and it’s been fantastic to see such a large number of teams again representing the blue and red in season 2024 across netball, hockey, soccer and volleyball. The weather has been pretty kind to us and there have been some great results across the board. I would like to make a special thanks to Mrs Karen Fergie, who has hit the ground running in her new role as Griffins Administrator, a key position that was one of several recommendations out of last year’s operational and strategic review.

The Griffins have come a long way in a short period of time. You could say we are in a period of stability at the moment, whilst we take a deep breath and readjust our goals and vision moving forward.

We have five fantastic Sports Chairs. Mrs Nanette Keen (Basketball, outgoing), Mrs Brooke Pearson (Netball), Mrs Bec Stephens (Soccer), Mr Carl Mueller (Hockey) and Mr Nathan Symonds (Volleyball), who all work tirelessly and volunteer their time for the betterment of the Griffins Club. It’s also reassuring to have the continued support of our GSG Principal Mr Mathew Irving, who is a big believer in the Griffins. Thanks to Mr Greg Pearson (Sponsorship Coordinator) for heading up this portfolio.

Our sponsors play a huge role in the viability of our Club. Castlehow Electrical (Mr Brett Sutton) and Totally Sports & Surf (Mr Kim McIntyre) are our Diamond Sponsors across Griffins as a whole, Mrs Krysta Guille is our Photography partner, whilst Mr Darrell Panizza (WFI Insurance) is our Basketball Gold Sponsor.

I’d like to invite all key Griffins Club personnel to our annual Sundowner on Thursday 8 August at the Hilton Garden Inn. This is a key fixture in our calendar and a great opportunity to officially thank everyone for their efforts throughout the season. Last year’s event was a fantastic turnout and it would be great to see everyone there again. There will be more info to come on this in the coming weeks.
