Primary School
The Primary School had an exhilarating week, brimming with unforgettable experiences that ignited the imaginations and marvel of the students. Science became an adventure as the young Year Two minds delved into the fascinating world of mixtures in the Secondary School science lab. With safety goggles donned and curiosity ablaze, they concocted colourful potions, discovering the magical fusion of different substances and the marvels of chemical reactions.
Students donned their colours on Tuesday for Wilson Day, but the highlight was the yummy strawberries and ice cream at lunch served by the fabulous Secondary School Wilson Leaders.
Amidst the academic exploration, Pre-Primary embraced the beauty of nature through their weekly enchanting ECC walk to the Wild Space. Surrounded by towering trees and the symphony of chirping birds, the students embarked on a journey of discovery, uncovering the secrets of the wilderness, and fostering a deep appreciation for the environment.
The week reached its crescendo with the Eagles Cup footy final, where the school spirit soared to new heights. With cheers echoing across the field, the young athletes showcased their skills and sportsmanship, competing with passion and determination.
This fantastic week epitomised the essence of Primary education—a harmonious blend of academic exploration, fun, outdoor adventures and spirited competition.

Term Two Horizons
We are drawing to the conclusion of another fabulous term of Horizons offerings. This term teachers have drawn on their own interests and passions to offer some amazing programmes.
Crochet - Miss Laneaux-Neale, Ms Suzanne Youens and Mrs Linda O’Keeffe have crocheted up a storm.
Coding -Mr Hardey has sparked curiosity and challenged the young minds in this term’s coding opportunities.
Line Dancing - Year Twelve student and passionate dancer Grace Franzinelli generously offered her time and expertise to teach Years Four and Five students a collection of well-known line dances.
Year Two George’s Marvellous Medicine
Last Wednesday, the Year Two class ventured to the Secondary School to visit Dr Mitrovski and watch him demonstrate some amazing experiments around our Inquiry topic of mixtures. The students watched in amazement as they saw how the different mixtures interacted with each other and made some bright and bubbly reactions.
Prior to this, in class we had been reading George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. We had looked at the alliteration used in the text and even practiced our procedural texts by writing our own Marvellous Medicines.
Later that morning, the students donned their (somewhat large) lab coats and safety glasses and began to make their mixtures. The ingredients ranged from oil, vinegar, bicarb soda and glitter to mud, shaving cream and even ice-cream! The students were able to discuss the density of different liquids and explain to each other why they thought their mixtures reacted in the way they did.
We had a wonderful time and the class would like to extend their thanks to Dr Mitrovski for giving up his time to help us learn, and Mrs Poole and Dr Harken for making sure we had everything we needed to make our mixtures.
Eagles Cup Final
What a finish to the season!
Last Thursday spectators were treated to a clash of titans in Primary School football at Centennial Oval. The sportsmanship of our players, their hunger for victory and teamwork were all clear in all four quarters.
After leading the game for all three and 11/12 quarters, our mighty team gave the last few minutes absolutely everything to hold onto a 14-12 win against Albany Primary School. Fate stepped in in the final ten seconds with an amazing scramble right in front of goal, ending in the winning goal being scored in the dying gasp of the timer running out to leave our team runners-up in the local competition.
Congratulations to Albany Primary School on their win of 18 to 14 were offered swiftly and without rancour. We may have lost the game, but with such a hotly contested competition all around, it seems the true winner of the afternoon was football.
As a community, we recognise the dedication, commitment, and passion for giving our students over and above opportunities shown by Mr Hardey, Mr Berryman, Mr Steytler, Mrs Cameron and Miss Boyley throughout the season.
Lunchtime trainings, trips to other schools, tours to Perth, skilled umpiring, driving the bus, and all the organisation: all of these contributions went into making our squad get right up to the point of having such a thrilling experience at the final.
Thank you so much to the team for your hard work, dedication and effort.
Briefing News
ECC Briefing
Last Friday was full of fun with the ECC House activity afternoon. It was nice to unwind and have fun with fellow students and be joined by some of our fabulous Year Six students. We enjoyed four rotations of outside games, colouring, Lego and yoga; it was a fantastic way to end the week. We all looked fabulous at Briefing this week as it was Wilson Day. We all made the most of ‘Showing our Colours’ and raising money for Young House. It was a beautiful moment when Sebastian Pyle in Pre-Primary donated his birthday money to the cause. The ECC is finishing the term strong with lots of fabulous learning and classroom activities.
