Ivanhoe Grammar School Cadet Promotions Course
Recently, two of our cadets, SGT’s Pippi Mellington and Seamus Byron, were invited to attend the Ivanhoe Grammar School Cadet Promotions Course held at PGL Campaspe Downs, where they worked toward achieving CUO (Cadet Under Officer) and WO (Warrant Officer) qualifications. Prior to the intensive camp, the SGT’s completed a series of challenging pre-work exercises that prepared them for the assessment process ahead.
During the course, SGT’s Mellington and Byron joined 70 students from Ivanhoe's two campuses, where they were tested on essential military skills including navigation, leadership techniques, team building, problem solving under pressure, command delivery, and ceremonial sword drill. This program not only cemented their leadership abilities but also provided opportunities to forge new friendships with like-minded cadets from another school unit. Pippi and Seamus returned with refined cadet skills, enhanced confidence, and valuable leadership experience as well as great ideas to share with their fellow leaders.
Both SGT’s were promoted at the end of the course parade, SGT Mellington promoted to CUO and SGT Byron promoted to Warrant Officer Class 1. Congratulations to both cadets on their outstanding achievement and on how they conducted themselves at the course.
