Learning and Teaching

It was lovely to meet with and speak to many students and families who attended our Explore and Emerge Subject Information Night and Expo. Thank you for attending,, and I hope you found the event and information provided helpful. It was wonderful to see so many families engaged in conversations about learning opportunities at the College and the many options available to students.

Following last night’s event, the subject selection process for 2027 is now underway. The link to the student portal for submitting subject preferences has been shared with students and parents via Toddle, and I will meet with all students in Years 8 to 11 during the Friday Mentor meeting to review the instructions. It is important to remember that this is a preferential system, so students should list their preferences in order, with the most preferred subject at the top. We also ask that you include reserves as a backup in case any of your selections are unavailable. Whether your child is moving into Explore (Years 9–10) or Emerge (Years 11–12), this is an important opportunity to make informed choices about the year ahead, and I encourage you to take time to discuss and seek any guidance and support you need throughout the process.

Senior School Semester One reports have also been released via Toddle this afternoon. This report provides an overview of your child's academic journey so far this year. Mentors have provided comments offering general learning advice and celebrating student progress and achievement. In addition, students have completed a Student Reflection Comment reflecting on their growth, challenges, and accomplishments throughout the reporting period. I encourage you to read through the report with your child, celebrate the progress made, and identify any areas for focus for Semester Two.

I am sure many, if not all, of our students and families are ready for a well-earned break after a very busy and full term of learning and other College events and activities. I wish you all a wonderful and restful holiday,, and look forward to seeing everyone back and refreshed in Term 3.
