Foundation/ Year One News

Foundation Maths

Our Foundation students have been busy developing their number skills through a range of fun, hands-on learning experiences. This week, we have been focusing on counting, sorting and comparing collections of up to 20.

Using materials such as blocks, counters and everyday classroom objects, students have been practising accurate touch counting. This involves carefully touching each item once while saying the numbers in the correct order. This important skill helps children develop one-to-one correspondence and builds confidence when counting collections.

Students have also been practising recognising and reading numbers on a number line, helping them understand the order of numbers and strengthen their early number knowledge. It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm and confidence our Foundation learners are showing as they continue to build strong mathematical skills!

Year One Writing

Year One students have been busy developing their main characters and mystery setttings for their upcoming narrative stories! We have had lots of fun developing these, using lots of adjectives to help our readers visualise these elements as they read. This week, we are continuing to plan by creating a beginning, middle and end. We look forward to writing these in the next coming weeks!
