Auslan News

Auslan This Week

Prep – Students extended their Auslan family vocabulary by learning signs for different pets. They worked in partners to play a dice game where they practised signing the pet vocabulary and graphing their results. Whichever pet they rolled the most became the pet they got to “keep”! There was lots of excitement and laughter as students raced their pets around the classroom.

Grade 1 – Students learnt how to ask and answer questions in Auslan and explored how Auslan grammar structure can differ from English. They investigated a range of question signs and practised creating and signing their own questions with classmates.

Grade 2 – Students extended their food vocabulary by learning signs for vegetables, building on the fruit vocabulary explored in previous weeks. Students rotated through a range of activities, including translating a recipe to make Vegetable Soup and working in partners to play vegetable-themed board games to practise their new signs.
