Senior secondary work experience

This term students from Senior Secondary have been attending work experience at ENABLE in Broadmeadows on Wednesdays and Fridays. ENABLE is a not-for-profit social enterprise that recycles computer equipment to keep it our of land fill.

The students use tools to dismantle unwanted IT equipment that cannot be reused or sold on. They separate the metals, the plastics, soft rubber, the cables and the mother boards. The plastics get sorted into three different types depending on their codes. 

We get to dismantle lots of different things including phones, hard drives, servers and sometimes printers.

All three ASDAN classes continue to work both in school and off site, completing ASDAN outcomes and developing their independence skills. At Westvale, 11/12E have been harvesting chillies and maintaining the garden beds, while in school 11/12D have been making smoothies. Both 11/12C and 11/12E have also been exploring city venues and building confidence using public transport, including trains, trams, and buses.
