The Issue Highlights
Dear Families,

Eid Mubarak to Muslim members of our community. Eid ul-Adha 2026 is observed from Tuesday, May 26 to Saturday, May 30, with the main day of Eid prayer falling on Wednesday, May 27.
SWPBS Gold Award

Congratulations to the staff and SWPBS Team for achieving the SWPBS Gold Award in 2025.
Silver level of acknowledgement recognises that our school has established both School-Wide Positive Behaviour Supports (SWPBS) Tier 1 foundations, classroom systems and achieved key fidelity measures in 2025.
In 2026, work is ongoing to ensure that our students are safe, respectful and responsible when in indoor areas, outdoor areas and in the community (including online). We continue to work with students on expected behaviours on social media when away from school, focused around disrespect.

National Sorry Day & Reconciliation Week

This week was National Reconciliation Week, with National Sorry Day recognised on Tuesday. This year’s theme encourages all Australians to be braver in addressing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
National Sorry Day gives us the opportunity to acknowledge the injustices of the past, honour the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors, and reflect on how we can all contribute to healing and reconciliation. Throughout the week, we are reminded that reconciliation remains unfinished business and that meaningful change requires all of us to work together for the benefit of all Australians.
At Jackson, we are proud to have 10 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families as part of our community. I am proud to lead such a diverse school community where all people feel safe, respected, included, and experience a genuine sense of belonging.
On behalf of the community, I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which our school is situated, the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respect to elders, past present and emerging.
I am on Long Service Leave next week. Julie will be the Acting Principal during my absence.
A reminder that Monday 8th June is the King's Birthday public holiday.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
