MORNINGTON PENINSULA- Mayor visits MESC

Article written by Harry W - VCE VM Year 11
On Thursday 30th October, the Mornington Peninsula shire Mayor, Anthony Marsh, came to visit the yr11 VCE VM students as part of their Personal Development Studies. In PDS we have been learning about the benefits of community engagement and prioritising the needs of the local community.
The mayor spoke to us about how the council on the Mornington Peninsula works and how they decide on what is best for our community. He spoke about the councils' ways of gathering feedback from community members about what’s important within the ward that they live in. He also said that every idea is valuable but can’t always be actioned by the council.
One main point I took from his visit, is that all major decisions take time and they all need to be discussed at length for the council members to agree upon their decisions. A big thank you to Anthony for spending time in the classroom.
