National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) 2027
The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) Year 12 Program gives students who are about to start Year 12 a broader understanding of study and career options available in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
In January 2027, the NYSF Year 12 Program will run two summer sessions at:
The Australian National University, Canberra – 6-14 January 2027
The University of Queensland – 13-21 January 2027
Staying on campus at university colleges, students are immersed in science and technology. Participants:
participate in tours of science and technology facilities,
learn about cutting-edge research,
engage with industry partners and research providers,
learn about university, training and STEM career pathways,
mix with like-minded students their age from all over Australia,
participate in social and team-building activities, and

French Club Report
Last Monday at lunchtime, the members of the French Club participated in a macaron decorating activity during one of our French club sessions. The event brought students from Years 9 to 11 together in a fun and creative environment while celebrating French culture and cuisine.
We enjoyed decorating macarons with colourful icing and toppings while spending time together in a friendly atmosphere. It was a great opportunity to practice creativity and teamwork, and everyone was proud of their final designs.
Thank you to Mrs Matthews who organised the activity for us, baking macarons over the Mother’s Day weekend.

Education Perfect Competition
Between 5 -12 May, SPX Language students in Years 5-9 were encouraged to participate in the 2026 EP International Languages Championship. The competition runs each year, with schools around the world keen to compete against each other for winning glory. Languages teachers asked students to attempt to gain a Credit, which takes approximately 500 points.
We are very proud of this year’s results, with so many students exceeding our class goals. As a result of our Chinese language students' combined efforts, St Pius X College took out 1st place in NSW for Chinese and 9th overall in NSW for French. Internationally, we placed 16 out of 733 competing schools for Chinese and 37 out of 929 schools for French. Overall, we had 38 students who achieved certificates.
A special mention for Ryan DE FINA, Michael CAPRA and Mason TAY, whose exceptional efforts achieved an EMERALD Certificate for over 5,000 points.
We congratulate all of the students who participated in the competition.
