Social Media Accounts and Usage

We have recently been made aware of a small number of unauthorised sport-oriented TikTok and Instagram accounts using the College name. This is a breach of College expectations and the St Pius X College ICT Guidelines. The students involved have been spoken with, and the accounts have since been shut down.

We remind all parents and students that creating, following or engaging with any social media account using the College name or Crest without approval is not permitted. This applies across all platforms, including those associated with sporting teams, and all such accounts must be authorised by the College Marketing Department.

The College currently operates one official rugby Instagram account, @spx.rugby, which represents and showcases all grade levels. Families and students are encouraged to share rugby content by submitting it to this account.

As per College policy, individual team social media accounts are not permitted.

This is also a timely reminder of the Australian Government’s social media age restrictions. From 10 December 2025, age‑restricted platforms are required to take reasonable steps to prevent individuals under 16 from creating or maintaining accounts, with guidance and support available through the eSafety Commissioner eSafety Commissioner.

Parents and carers play a critical role in actively monitoring their son’s social media use, supporting safe online behaviours, and reinforcing expectations consistent with both College guidelines and current legislation.

We appreciate your continued support in ensuring online activity reflects the values and expectations of the College community.
