Yakult Factory Tour – Year 12 Business Management
On Monday, 18th May, 44 Year 12 Business Management students visited the Yakult factory in Dandenong South. The aim was to better understand how businesses make efficiency gains through their operations.
Students gained insights into how forecasting can be used to determine the levels of raw materials needed for production. They also saw how Yakult bottles are created from a single pellet of plastic about half a centimetre in size.
The tour included viewing their automated production line and seeing how computer-aided manufacturing can speed up the labelling, filling and bottling of Yakult. While the tour certainly does help students prepare for their assessments, including the end-of-year exam, most students agreed their favourite part was sampling the product!
Thanks to the students for representing the college responsibly in the community and for generally having fun while learning.
