Sports & Carnivals – Term 2 Highlights
What a sensational Term 2 it has been for sport at Doncaster Secondary College!
Across the term, our students have represented DSC with outstanding pride, enthusiasm, resilience and school spirit. From round robins and division competitions to whole-school carnivals, it has been fantastic to witness such high levels of participation, positivity and community involvement across all year levels.
While we were fortunate to celebrate many division champions, regional qualifiers and runners-up performances along the way, the true highlight has been the way our students have embraced sport, supporting one another, demonstrating teamwork and representing the college with excellence both on and off the field.
Interschool Sport Round Robins
Our interschool sport program has been incredibly successful throughout the term, with students competing across a wide range of sports and year levels.
We kicked things off with the Regional Lawn Bowls competition on 27th April, where three senior teams competed with great spirit, enthusiasm and competitiveness throughout a fantastic day of bowls.
The Senior AFL Round Robin saw both our boys and girls teams proudly represent the college. A special mention goes to co-captains Dimi Pappas and James Minuzzo for their leadership throughout the day, while our Senior Girls team were exceptional, claiming the Division title through outstanding teamwork, sportsmanship and determination.
Across the Senior, Intermediate and Year 7 Round Robins, DSC students consistently showcased incredible effort, teamwork and skill. We celebrated numerous runners-up finishes across badminton, soccer, AFL and netball, while several teams progressed through to regional finals after dominant performances.
Some standout highlights included:
- Our Intermediate Girls AFL team dominating their competition to claim the Division title and progress through to Regional Finals.
- The Intermediate Girls Soccer team producing a brilliant tournament performance, highlighted by Christina Kaspimallis scoring a hat-trick in the final.
- Our Year 7 Girls Soccer team winning a thrilling final to secure the Division championship.
- The Year 7 Girls Netball team delivering one of the performances of the term, receiving praise from referees and staff from multiple schools for their teamwork, sportsmanship and positive attitude throughout the day.
We also hosted a hugely successful Boys Netball competition day, with excellent participation across all year levels. The event was filled with energy, laughter, learning and terrific school spirit, with several DSC teams finishing as runners-up.
Athletics Carnival
Our 2026 Athletics Carnival was without doubt one of the highlights of the school year so far.
Held on Monday 4th May in perfect conditions, the carnival was an incredible celebration of participation, house spirit and community. The atmosphere throughout the day was outstanding, with students enthusiastically competing, supporting one another and fully embracing the event.
A special thank you must go to all staff, students and members of the wider school community who contributed to making the day such a success.
Our Year 12 students once again brought fantastic energy and humour to the event with their creative costumes and enthusiasm throughout the day, helping create an unforgettable atmosphere for all students.
Congratulations to Ovens House, who were crowned 2026 Athletics Champions after a tremendous whole-school effort.
Cross Country Carnivals
Our Doncaster Cross Country Carnival was another outstanding whole-school event, highlighted by exceptional participation rates and student effort.
It was fantastic to see all Year 7 and Year 8 students participating, alongside strong voluntary participation from students across Years 9–12. The positive attitudes, encouragement and resilience shown by students throughout the day perfectly reflected the values of the DSC sport program.
Congratulations to all students who finished in the top 15 of their age group and qualified for the Division Cross Country Carnival.
At the Division Carnival, DSC students once again represented the college superbly, displaying terrific sportsmanship, encouragement and determination throughout the event.
A special congratulations goes to:
- Zia Nambiar, who produced an incredible performance to win the 12–13 Girls 3km event in a remarkable time of 12:27.
- Natalie Lim, who achieved an outstanding 3rd place finish in the 15 Girls competition.
We wish all students progressing to Regional Cross Country the very best of luck.
