In Our Chinese Class

Foundation:
We have continued learning to count and exploring family names in Mandarin. Students have enjoyed playing counting ball games and creating origami houses and finger puppets to make learning fun and engaging.

Year 1 and 2:
We have been learning weather-related words in Mandarin. Students have enjoyed playing games and creating their own weather wheels to practise and demonstrate their understanding of the new vocabulary.

Year 3 to 6:
Students have been exploring Chinese culture through Chinese shuttlecock, a traditional game enjoyed by children in China. They have learnt to talk about their favourite sports in Mandarin and developed their shuttlecock skills, starting with individual practice before progressing to playing in pairs and larger groups. It has been a fun way to combine language learning with cultural experiences!

Year 5 and 6:
Students have also enjoyed a Language Passport activity, revisiting the Mandarin vocabulary and phrases they have learnt throughout their primary school journey, from Foundation to Year 6. This has been a great opportunity for them to reflect on their learning, celebrate their progress and recognise just how much they have learnt over the years.
