Black Rock Primary School
Principal Team Message
Sam Tyndall & Emily Harvey
Hello BRPS Community,
As we move through the final weeks of the school year, I would like to acknowledge and thank our teachers, students and families for their continued commitment to learning and the positive, purposeful environment we strive to maintain at Black Rock Primary School.
Term 4 is always a busy and exciting time, with many special events, celebrations and opportunities to recognise the achievements of the year. However, it is also an important period of learning, with teachers continuing to deliver high-quality classroom instruction, assess student progress and consolidate the knowledge and skills developed throughout the year.
I particularly want to thank our dedicated teachers and education support staff for maintaining high expectations, protecting valuable learning time and ensuring that our classrooms remain calm, orderly and focused on learning.
Equally, I commend our students for their continued effort, enthusiasm and commitment to doing their best, and thank our families for reinforcing the importance of regular attendance, punctuality and a positive attitude towards school.
Every school day matters, and every opportunity to learn counts. By maintaining our collective focus on learning right through to the end of the year, we ensure that our students finish 2026 with a strong sense of achievement and are well prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.
Thank you to our entire school community for your ongoing partnership and commitment to making learning our highest priority.
Last week, our community celebrated World Teachers’ Day, an opportunity to shine a light on teachers and the pivotal role they play in the lives of young people, their families and our broader society.
We celebrated the care, dedication, expertise and effort that teachers demonstrate every day to support the learning and wellbeing of students in our school.
BRPS students are lucky to have teachers who have a strong sense of collegiality and shared responsibility to support them in all that they do. Teaching is a challenging role and much more complex than it is sometimes believed to be, with that complexity and challenge seeming to grow each year.
Every day in our school I see teachers who give their all and go above and beyond to ensure the success of our students, as well as provide opportunities well beyond their core responsibilities.
Thank you teachers, we're very grateful to have you at our school.

Thank You!
Thanks to the BRPS parent and carer community for their generosity in supplying an amazing morning tea (including coffees!) and collection of pantry items in recognition of World Teachers' Day and appreciation of the important work that school staff do every day. School-home partnerships are so important and we appreciate the sentiment on days like today.
Judging by the goodies on the table it looks like there is more than enough fuel to help our teachers to continue to 'Shape' lives!
The remaining 2026 student-free days are:
School Site Closure – Friday 20 November
Please be advised that access to the Black Rock Primary School site will be strictly prohibited on Friday 20 November due to scheduled asbestos removal works.
These works have been deliberately scheduled to coincide with our planned student-free day to ensure they can be undertaken safely, without students, staff or families on site.
No access to the school grounds or buildings will be permitted throughout the day, including for recreational use.
We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our school community as these important works are undertaken to maintain a safe school environment.

Compass has recently introduced an updated look and improved user experience, making it easier for families to navigate the platform and stay connected with school information.
While the appearance and layout may look a little different, the familiar features you use to access school communications, report absences and manage school activities remain available.
We encourage all families to take a moment to explore the updated platform. For more information and helpful guides, please visit the Compass Parent Guide.
Friday 11th December
Following the wonderful success of last year’s event, we are excited to bring back The Big Celebration Day at BRPS as a special way to celebrate the end of the school year!
All BRPS students and staff will once again come together for a whole-school celebration here at school.
The Big Celebration Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements, growth and memorable experiences of the year, while strengthening the connections that make our school community so special.
Students can look forward to an action-packed day of fun, with a fantastic range of activities facilitated by Proactivity, including:
Students will participate in a two-hour session of these exciting activities, with classes rotating through the different challenges throughout the day.
Adding to the excitement, Supreme Incursions will deliver an engaging and entertaining Science Show, bringing plenty of curiosity, discovery and fun to our celebrations!
Following the overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s event, we look forward to continuing this wonderful BRPS tradition and providing all students with a memorable experience to celebrate their hard work and achievements throughout the year. What a fantastic way to finish the school year together!
On Monday, families will receive information about our updated Class Placement Policy, including an opportunity to provide feedback where there are significant educational, social or emotional considerations that may need to be taken into account when forming classes for 2027.
If you believe there are important circumstances relating to your child that are not already known to the school, we ask that you submit these through the formal feedback process outlined in Monday's communication.
Our Year 3 students returned tired but happy from their first school camp at Golden Valleys in Flinders, and what a wonderful experience it was. Students embraced a range of adventure activities that challenged them, helped build confidence and resilience, and strengthened their independence and teamwork skills.
A heartfelt thank you to our Year 3 teachers — Chris Badman, Sandy Bassoukos and Sharlee Briggs — for the significant planning and preparation that ensured a safe, smooth and memorable camp. We also extend our gratitude to the staff who generously gave their time to support the experience: Miss Hili, Cal Byrnes, and Belinda Kay.

Have a wonderful month ahead.
