VCE Students Complete the GAT
On Tuesday 17 June 2024, senior students at John Fawkner College joined thousands of others across the state in completing the General Achievement Test (GAT), a key milestone in the VCE and VCE VM journey.
All students enrolled in one or more scored VCE VM Unit 3–4 subjects were required to sit the test, which assesses general skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking. The GAT is split into two sections: Section A covers literacy and numeracy, while Section B focuses on general knowledge across a range of disciplines including science, the arts, technology and humanities.
While the GAT does not count directly towards students’ final study scores, it plays an important role in supporting the fairness and accuracy of VCE assessments. Students are to be commended for their focus, determination, and positive attitude on the day. Completing the GAT is a significant step forward, and our students should be proud of their efforts as they continue working towards their goals for the end of the year.
The Senior Sub-school Team want to celebrate the success of the VCE students in making the Learning Centre a space focused on study. The common area and classrooms of the Learning Centre have seen incredible improvement in their usage as spaces for consolidating learning and furthering understanding.
At any point throughout the day, and even after school at Homework Club and Coursework Catch-up, VCE students can be found using these spaces productively and respectfully. Thank you to the VCE students that are setting a positive example for the other students, and who are embodying our school values of Respect, Commitment, Academic Excellence and Continuous Improvement.
We are proud of the expectations you have created and look forward to seeing them carried through Term 3, in what is our Year 12’s final full term at JFC. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
